Willis ‘Willie’ Newby — UPDATED
Willis Michael “Willie” Newby, 67, Pierceton, died at 8:10 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2022, at his home.
He was born Jan. 3, 1955, in Muncie to Willis and Annabelle (McColley) Newby.
He moved to the North Webster/Pierceton area in the late 1960’s from Muncie and graduated from Wawasee High School in Syracuse. He was married April 3, 2007, in North Webster to Kathryn L. “Kathy” (Anderson) Myers , who survives.
He retired from Conrail Railroad in 1997 and was employed part time at Jellystone Park in Pierceton at the time of his passing.
He was a former member of the Catholic Church in Pierceton, Masonic Lodge, Mizpah Shriners, and Sons of the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing and deer, turkey and bear hunting. He enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Newby, Pierceton; a daughter, Kalea Brouyette, Kokomo; a son, Rusty (Logan) Newby, Rochester; a stepson, Trenton (Mary) Myers of War, W.Va.; seven grandchildren, Kamryn, Payton, Faith, Hope, Kaden, Brayden and Eathan; a sister, Mary Margaret Schaefer, Syracuse; and an aunt, Cyndee (Bob) Ulmer, Avon Park, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. SR 15, Warsaw. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2022, at the Mock Addition of the North Webster Cemetery with Pastor Tim Jones officiating.
Owen Family Funeral Home, SR 13 and CR 500N, North Webster, is in charge of arrangements.
