Bernice Berg — UPDATED
Bernice M. Berg, 89, Warsaw, died Friday, May 6, 2022.
She was born July 4, 1932, to Frank and Rosa (Lindauer) Fetter in Mariah Hill.
Bernice attended Dale High School in the late 1940’s while helping her parents on the family farm. Following her schooling, she was a nanny, worked at General Electric in Huntingburg, and waitressed at Santa Claus Land and Warsaw Community Schools.
She was united in marriage to Frank Berg Aug. 22, 1953, at Mary Help of Christian Church in Mariah Hill; he preceded her in death. Frank’s navy commission sent them both to Corpus Christi, Tx. until they returned to Indiana and settled in Evansville in the mid-1950’s.
In 1973, they left many cherished friends and relocated to Warsaw. Bernice was a caring, loving wife and mother, as well as a passionate servant of God. She spent many hours volunteering at Sacred Heart Parish, Sacred Heart School, Rosary Altar Society, Welcome Wagon and Delta Theta Tau. She was proud of her children and especially enjoyed rocking her grandchildren. Bernie was actively involved in the lives of her children, serving as an academic room mother, a den mother and athletic team mother. She was also “mom” to many others and never turned a hurting heart or empty stomach away. She exemplified living the love of God. She was a faithful friend who enjoyed bowling, dancing, playing bridge and weekly visits to the beauty salon.
She leaves behind her six children, Steve (Christi) Berg, Warsaw, Phyllis (Kim) Wheeler, Larwill, Carol (Tony) Staley, South Bend, Sarah (Dennis) Robinson, Warsaw, David (Nicole) Berg, Fort Wayne and Frank (Janet) Berg II, Fishers; 20 grandchildren and over 25 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Betty Kleinhelter, Celestine; a brother, Ray (Sue) Fetter, Mariah Hill; and a sister in-law, Marian (Fred) Hebert, St. Anne, Ill.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2022, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the Mass of Christian Burial from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw. Father Jonathan Norton will officiate and interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in honor of Bernice can be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 135 N. Harrison St., Warsaw.
