Liana Butcher
Liana Butcher, 58, Syracuse, passed away at 11:28 p.m. on Monday, May 2, 2022, at her home.
She was born on Aug. 26, 1963, in San Antonio, Tex., to Merle and Sinnia (Batiz) Peterson.
She graduated in 1981 from Terry Parker High School in Jacksonville, Fla., and from Purdue University in West Lafayette. She was married on May 17, 1986, in West Lafayette, to Kent W. Butcher, who survives, and moved to the Syracuse area in 2001 from Chicago, Ill. She was an elementary/junior high teacher and formerly taught in Chicago, West Lafayette, Milford, North Webster, and Syracuse schools.
She was a member of the Vineyard Community Church in Syracuse, where she formerly served as children’s pastor.
She is survived by her husband: Kent Butcher, Syracuse; son: Benjamin “Ben” Butcher, Syracuse; mother: Sinnia (Richard) Radner, Edgewood, N.M.; father: Merle (Pam) Peterson, Monticello; and sister: Brenda (Brian) O’Leary, Greenfield.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, May 13, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, in the funeral home, with Pastor Chris Kroger officiating. Burial will follow in the Mock Addition of the North Webster Cemetery.
