MENTONE — A couple of candidates are seeking to become Mentone’s new clerk-treasurer.
They include Tammy Stoneburner and Amanda Yaprak. The two filed their candidacies to replace Nicki Norris, who resigned at the end of April. A GOP caucus is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, at Mentone Town Hall, 201 W. Main St.
Both Stoneburner and Yaprak told InkFreeNews a bit about themselves.
Stoneburner has been an area resident since 2007. She works at Winona Powder Coating in Etna Green in customer service/as a shipping clerk.
She said she applied for the clerk-treasurer position due to wanting to become “more involved in my community and how things work.”
Stoneburner has four grown sons. The oldest lives in Ohio, the third oldest lives in Tennessee and the youngest lives in Indiana. Her second oldest son has passed away.
She also has a Maltipoo named Winston.
Yaprak said she has been a longtime Mentone resident, having grown up there and graduated from Tippecanoe Valley High School.
She is a US Air Force veteran, having served for six years. She has a bachelor’s degree in business/finance and works now in that field.
She has two sons, ages 15 and 8. She noted she’s active in helping with Burket Boy Scout Troop 782.
She said she decided to run due to wanting to “become more involved in the community.”
Yaprak did not provide a photo for publication.
