Vote For Pence
Dear Editor,
I would like to express my gratitude once again for the incredible opportunity I was given to speak at Wednesday night’s candidate forum as a candidate for Kosciusko County recorder.
If you missed it, I would encourage you to check it out. The link can be found on the website for the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce.
In order to comply with the time allotted to answer the questions, I was somewhat brief in a couple areas I would like to expand on just a bit further.
My suggestion to reduce the county general fund’s obligation using the record perpetuation fund was just one example of what I have to offer with the knowledge and the experience I have in the overall finances of county government.
Prior to making my suggestion, I had reviewed the Indiana Code as well as consulted the State Board of Accounts for clarification of my understanding of its permitted uses. This would be another example of my experience in the laws and mandates of county operations.
Additional skills required of a county recorder include knowledge of what the office does: recording requirements, fees and storage, being familiar with Indiana Codes and the State Board of Accounts, budgets, employee records, disciplinary actions and payroll.
I would respectfully like to remind those of you who plan to vote on Tuesday that I have referenced most of these skills previously.
I actually have an extensive background in all areas required to effectively and efficiently operate our county recorder’s office. I’ve worked closely with two county assessors, the current auditor, council members and commissioners as well as employees and office holders throughout county government for many years and in various capacities even before I was employed with the county.
I am confident in my ability to operate our county recorder’s office with the same professionalism and integrity that has been reflected throughout my campaign, and I would greatly appreciate your consideration for the opportunity at the polls on Tuesday.
Teena Pence
