WARSAW — A Warsaw man was recently arrested after allegedly stealing four catalytic converters.
Brian Eugene Julian, 51, 212 S. Union St., Warsaw, is charged with theft, a Level 5 felony; and criminal mischief, a class A misdemeanor.
On Dec. 16, 2021, a Warsaw Police detective was on patrol when he noticed a driver fail to use a turn signal twice. The detective pulled the driver over and identified the driver as Julian.
According to court documents, the detective recognized Julian from previous investigations involving illegal narcotics and had received information about Julian being in possession of stolen catalytic converters. When the detective requested consent to search the vehicle, Julian denied consent.
Julian said the vehicle contained four stolen catalytic converters. He admitted to cutting the catalytic converters off of vehicles and said he planned to sell them. Upon searching the vehicle, officers found four catalytic converters and tools used to cut the converters off of vehicles.
Julian said he stole the converters the night prior and described where he had stolen two of the converters. The Warsaw Police Department was able to confirm that the two locations Julian described had vehicles where the catalytic converters were cut off and stolen.
Julian has prior convictions for corrupt business influence and narcotic drug possession in Kosciusko County.
For this case, Julian was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on April 21, 2022, with a $10,750 surety and cash bond.
