Alcohol Board Approves 11 Renewals, Addresses One Violation

WARSAW — The Kosciusko County Alcohol and Tobacco Commission approved 11 permit renewals and addressed a violation during a meeting on Thursday, April 7.
Robin Watters, president of R.P. Watters Corporation, was present at the meeting in regards to a November 2021 violation at Rex’s Rendezvous, 204 S. Buffalo St., Warsaw.
Watters told the commission the violation was due to an underage customer being served alcohol. He said the business was fined $1,000 and that the restaurant’s bartender paid a $250 fine.
The commission approved the renewal for Rex’s Rendezvous.
A permit renewal with a violation for Arrow Um, doing business as Warsaw Seafood, 937 N. Detroit St., was continued to the commission’s May meeting. No representatives for the restaurant were present at the meeting.
At the state level, two alcohol permits for Kosciusko County are currently in a competitive bidding process. The Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission is holding an alcoholic beverage permit auction, which began at 10 a.m. April 7. All bidding is taking place in-person in Indianapolis.
These permits for the county are available for purchase due to an increase in population, according to U.S. Census figures. InkFreeNews will post information about winning bidders as it becomes available.
According to the state ATC’s website, these are the businesses in the bidding process for two of the permits:
Available beer, wine and liquor – restaurant license:
- Warsaw Seafood Inc. (owners of Asian Cajun in Warsaw)
- Full Service Dining Inc. (registered office address belongs to Quality Dining Inc., out of Mishawaka)
- Saint Regis Club LLC (registered to Dave Gustafson, who owns Oak and Alley, among other Warsaw restaurants)
Available beer and wine dealer – grocery store license:
- Warsaw Seafood Inc.
- Mega Indiana LLC (registered to Mega Liquor & Smoke, which has locations in Nappanee, Rochester, and Goshen)
- Family Express Corporation (registered business name for Family Express gas stations)
Warsaw Seafood Inc. is also the sole bidder for a Kosciusko County beer and wine retailer – restaurant permit.
During the local ATC meeting, the following permits were renewed with no violations:
- La Pasadita of Warsaw LLC, doing business as La Pasadita, 1303 N. Detroit St. B., Warsaw. Beer, wine and liquor – river and lake.
- Green Golf Partners LLC, doing business as Wawasee Golf Club, 12388 N. Bishop Road, Syracuse. Beer and wine retailer – restaurant.
- Mada Enterprises LLC, doing business as Barbee Hotel and Restaurant, 3620 N. Barbee Road, Warsaw. Beer, wine and liquor – restaurant.
- Morstor Inc., doing business as Pizza King, 719 Huntington St., Syracuse. Beer and wine retailer – restaurant.
- South Shore Ventures LLC, 10601 N. SR 13, Syracuse. Beer, wine and liquor – restaurant.
- T.O. Downtown Inc., doing business as Downtown Eatery & Spirits, 205 W. Center St., Warsaw. Beer, wine and liquor – restaurant.
- Sleepy Owl Supper Club, 11374 N. SR 13, Syracuse. Beer, wine and liquor – restaurant.
- Freeland Enterprises Inc., doing business as Pizza Hut, 1112 S. Huntington Road, Syracuse. Beer, wine and liquor – river and lake.
- Speedway LLC, doing business as Speedway #6078, 823 E. Winona Ave., Warsaw. Beer and wine dealer – grocery store.
- Stacy’s Sport Inn Inc., doing business as Stacy’s, 309 S. Main St., Leesburg. Beer, wine and liquor – restaurant.
The local ATC board’s next meeting will be held at the Kosciusko County Courthouse at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 5.
