Warsaw Offering Seasonal Services During Earth Week
News Release
WARSAW – The city of Warsaw is offering numerous services in celebration of Earth Week, which runs from April 18-22.
The city’s Public Works Department is working with Borden Waste Away Services, Integra and Waste Management on the services, which are available to city residents.
Here is what’s planned:
Loose leaf pickup – Large piles of leaves can be raked to the curb or alley. They will be picked up on your regular trash day and need to be out by 7 a.m. Please do not put sticks or other trash in the leaf piles. Small piles will need to be bagged or boxed and will be picked up on your regular trash day.
As a reminder, leaves cannot be raked into the streets and gutter lines. This clogs the stormwater catch basins and creates drainage issues that can lead to flooding.
Spring items cleanup – Waste Management has offered to place four 30-yard containers at their local transfer station. Residents (ID will be checked to verify addresses) can drop off items (not truckloads from rental property cleanouts) at no charge. Waste Management will donate the dumping fees and are excited to offer residents assistance in disposing of their spring cleaning items. This service will be free of charge to the residents residing within the city limits of Warsaw. Waste Management’s transfer station is at 2352 N. Boeing Road, Warsaw.
Free shredding event – Borden Waste Away/Integra Shredding will host a community shred drive day. This will be a “drive-through” service. Integra will have a shred truck at the Public Works Department, located at 794 W. Center St., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, April 18. City employees will load your papers in totes and Integra will shred the documents on the spot.
Yard waste bags – Paper lawn and leaf bags will be available for city residents to pick up at the Public Works Department, located at 794 W. Center St. Residents (IDs will be checked to verify addresses) are invited to pick up six bundles of paper lawn and leaf bags for natural debris pickup for 2022. Hours for distribution will be regular business hours, which are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday – Friday.
Wood Chip give-away – Wood chip giveaway will begin Monday, April 18. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays through April 23 or until brush grindings are depleted. The public is invited to bring trailers, dump trucks, pickup trucks and/or small containers to West Center Street just inside Boggs Industrial Park. City employees will load the wood chips. These wood chips are brush grindings from earlier this year.
