CASA Representative Speaks At AAUW Meeting
Press Release
WARSAW — The Warsaw branch of the American Association of University Women met at the Palette Restaurant for their March meeting.
Judy Becker called the meeting to order and introduced the hostesses, visitors, and guest speaker.
Guest speaker Janelle Meyer described the CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) organization. CASA volunteers have worked with the courts to focus on the needs of children in abuse and neglect cases in Kosciusko County since 1992. There are about 60 local CASA volunteers.
CASA participates in the promotion of Child Abuse Prevention Month every April. On April 13, community members are invited to join in planting a “pinwheel garden” at the courthouse. Additional pinwheels are available for neighborhood display. Clearwater Carwash will donate $2 per car wash to CASA on April 20.
During the business meeting, the treasurer’s and the secretary’s report were read and approved. The nominating committee submitted the slate of officers for 2022-23:
- President: Monica Smith
- President-Elect: Elisa McPherson
- Co-Secretary: June Stealy and Ruth Jones
The election will take place at the April 23 meeting, which will be at 9:30 a.m. at the Palette Restaurant.
