Man Arrested After Allegedly Driving 111 MPH On US 31

ROCHESTER — A Michigan man has been arrested after allegedly driving 111 mph on US 31 in Fulton County.
According to an Indiana State Police press release, Corey Bland Jr., 20, Benton Harbor, Mich., was arrested on multiple charges following a traffic stop by an Indiana State Trooper on US 31. He’s been booked into the Fulton County Jail.
At around 9:14 a.m. on Wednesday, March 30, the trooper initiated the traffic stop on Bland for driving a 2017 Ford Fusion allegedly 111 mph in a 60 mph zone.
Due to suspicion, officers searched the vehicle and allegedly found two handguns, cocaine and drug paraphernalia.
Further investigation revealed that Bland has convictions for assault with a deadly weapon from Van Buren County, Michigan. This makes him a serious violent felon who is not allowed to possess firearms.
Bland was booked into the Fulton County Jail and faces the following charges: dealing cocaine with enhancing circumstances (firearm), possession of marijuana, and possession of a handgun after being deemed a serious violent felon.
Bland was also issued a citation for driving 111 miles per hour in a posted 60 miles per hour zone and driving a vehicle having never received a driver’s license.
