Man Faces New Possession Charge After Sentencing In Drug Case
Press Release

Lucas Howland
WARSAW — A Kosciusko County Jail inmate faces possible additional charges after he was sentenced in Kosciusko Circuit Court on Monday, March 14.
Lucas Howland, 29, Elkhart, was remanded to incarceration following his sentencing for a methamphetamine possession case stemming from August 2020. In that case, Howland received a 2 1/2 year jail sentence, with the final year of the sentence suspended on probation pending Howland’s behavior.
Howland was searched during the Kosciusko County Jail intake process. As Howland removed one of his socks, a small plastic bag fell to the floor. Howland then allegedly attempted to throw the bag in the trash. The booking officer ordered Howland to surrender the bag, which he did without further incident. The white crystalline substance wrapped inside of the plastic was subsequently identified as methamphetamine.
Howland was not in custody at the time of his court hearing.
This investigation has been forwarded to the Kosciusko County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for consideration of formal criminal charges.
