WARSAW – Culver’s weathered the pandemic and is now planning a second restaurant in Warsaw.
News of the expansion plan surfaced on the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce Facebook page and was confirmed by Kevin Ray, a part-owner of the company.
The company plans to demolish the old Steak & Shake on North SR 15 and construct a new building, Ray said.
If everything goes as planned the restaurant could be open in October.
While many restaurants have struggled during the two-year pandemic, Culver’s has fared well.
Ray described sales at its existing store as strong and said they made adjustments to survive during the pandemic.
The store also expanded hours and is now open until 11 p.m.
“Our sales have been positive, even in 2020 when the dining room was closed,” Ray said. “We came out on the stronger end of things. The drive-thru helped us a lot.”
The restaurant chain has about 850 locations across the country and is known for its butter burger and frozen custard.
