Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following incidents:
- 8:25 a.m. Feb. 21 – On CR 400S, near Kinsey Road near Warsaw. Driver struck a deer. Driver: Terry Hunter, 66, West CR 1300N, Nappanee. Damage up to $5,000.
- 10:38 p.m. Feb. 20 – On CR 400E, hear CR 100N near Warsaw. Driver avoided a deer, but hit a tree. Driver: Debora Vance, 56, North CR 400E, Warsaw. Damage up to $25,000.
- 4:44 p.m. Feb. 20 – EMS T33B Lane, near Leesburg. Driver hit a slick spot, hit a tree. Driver: Marie Hurley, 34, Huron Street, Goshen. Damages up to $25,000.
- 12:26 p.m. Feb. 20 – On Wooster Road east of CR 500E, near Warsaw. Driver lost control, struck a tree. Driver: Shane Hovenden, 30, East Center Street, Warsaw. Damage up to $10,000.
- 11:48 a.m. Feb. 19 – On CR 900N, east of CR 700W. Vehicle slid off-road, struck mailbox and tree. Driver: Dinah Gilbert, 21, Bower Street, Elkhart. Damage up to $25,000.
- 11:50 a.m. Feb. 19 – On CR 700E, south of CR 1150S near North Manchester. Driver lost control, struck utiility pole. Driver: Shawn McVey 52, West Wayne Street, Pierceton. Injury. McVey complained of shoulder pain. Damage up to $5,000.
- 5:59 p.m. Feb. 19 – On CR 700N, and CRF 1350N, near Nappanee. Vehicles collided in slick intersection. Drivers: Omar Ponce, 17, Pam Street, Warsaw; Lynfoerd Slabaugh, 35, Elm Street, Nappanee. Damages up to $25,000.
- 11:37 p.m. Feb. 18 – On SR 15, north of CR 600S, near Claypool. Vehicle struck deer. Driver: Roger Gall, 61, East Walnut St., Claypool. Damage up to $2,500.
- 7:20 p.m. Feb. 14 – On CR 900S, east of Packerton Road, south of Warsaw. Driver hit deer. Driver: Kyler Pence, 26, 408 Miami St., North Manchester. Damages up to $5,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following incidents:
- 3:46 p.m. Feb. 20 – On US 30 and SR 15 interchange stoplight, Warsaw. Vehicle rear-ended. Drivers: Kurt Kaufman, 51, Chapman Lake Drive, Warsaw; Amanda Shepherd, 40, EMS C24D Lane, Warsaw. Damages up to $2,500.
- 6:47 a.m. Feb. 19 – On US 30 in Warsaw. Driver hit a slick spot and struck a guardrail. Two witnesses reported the accident and said the driver fled. Police later found the vehicle and the driver. Driver was not identified in police report. Damage up to $10,000.
- 7:21 a.m. Feb. 19 – On CR 350W, south of US 30 near Warsaw. Driver drove into drifting snow and got stuck. Trying to get out of the snow led to damage. Driver: Richelle Meeks, 33, Wooster Road, Pierceton. Damage up to $5,000.
- 9:32 a.m. Feb. 19 – On Wexford Place near Inverness Pointe in Warsaw. Vehicles collided on icy road. One driver fled. Remaining driver: Christopher Delacruz, 33, Old Colony Road, Warsaw. Vehicle that fled, a red late-model GMC SUV, likely has rear-end damage.
- 11:124 a.m. Feb. 19 – On Country Club Road north of CR 550S, near Warsaw. Vehicles traveling in the opposite direction side-swiped each other after one vehicle crossed the center line. One driver fled. Remaining driver: Brenda Lackey, 44, South Country Club Road, Warsaw. Missing vehicle is a red Ford 150 pickup. Damages $2,500.
- 10:48 p.m. Feb. 18 – In the parking lot of Walmart, 2501 Walton Boulevard, Warsaw. Driver struck a pole in icy conditions. Driver: Jacob Hurt, 16, EMS B7 Lane, Leesburg. Damage up to $5,000.
Winona Lake
Officers with the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following incidents:
5:16 p.m. Feb. 17 – On SR 15S, near Ranch Road in Warsaw. Vehicles collided after one driver jumped from the vehicle while still in motion. Drivers: Tony Yowell, 24, CR 21, Goshen; Paige Wood, 29, East Fort Wayne Street, Warsaw.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following incidents:
1:44 p.m. Feb. 20 – On Syracuse Webster Road, near CR 1200N, near Syracuse. Driver hit a slick spot, struck a pole. Driver: Madisen Burger, 19, CR 500E, Syracuse. Damage up to $25,000.
11:48 a.m. Feb. 19 – On Bowers Road near Huntington Street, Syracuse. Driver lost control, stuck pole. Driver: Samantha Hursey, 43, Syracuse-Webster Road, Syracuse. Damage up t0 $1,000.
8:50 p.m. Feb. 19 – In am alley at 304N. Huntington Street, Syracuse. Driver was attempting back up on a hill where it then slid into some water. Driver: Jose Salazar, 42, Rochester Road, Ligonier. Damage up to $750.
10:32 p.m. Feb. 19 – On East Bowser Road east of CR 300E. Driver lost control, struck a pole. Driver: Samuel Griner, South Walnut Drive, North Webster. Damage up to $2,500.
Fulton County
Officers with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
- 10:23 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, SR 25 and SR 331. Driver: Matthew T. Hurley, 35, Macy. Hurley was involved in a single-vehicle accident. No further information.
- 7:07 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, SR 114 and South CR 1600E, Akron. Driver: Brian E. Pike, 32, Knox. Hit deer.
- 10:10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, US 31 and Wabash Avenue, Rochester. Driver: Joseph D. Garland, 30, Barbourville, Ky. Hit deer.
- 5:28 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, CR 1075E, Akron. Driver: Alfonson R. Santiago, 49, Akron. Santiago’s vehicle went off the road. He was issued a summons for operating a vehicle without ever receiving a license.
- 2:05 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, SR 14, Rochester. Driver: Lillyan F. Meyer, 19, Rochester. Meyer’s vehicle went off the road and hit a pole.
- 6:43 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, CR 900E, Akron. Driver: Zachary M. Schuler, 25, Wabash. Schuler’s vehicle went off the road and hit a tree.
- 4:35 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, Washington Street, Rochester. Drivers: Patrick D. Allen, 56, Delong; and Rafael L. Jimenez, 35, Rochester. One vehicle was being backed from a driveway when it was struck by the other vehicle.
- 3:43 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, SR 17 and CR 550S, Kewanna. Drivers: Emilie K. Trent, 51, Converse; and Neil A. Ewing, 57, Longansport. Trent’s and Ewing’s vehicles collided.
- 1:50 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, CR 700E between Fort Wayne Road and CR 200N. Driver: Nyle W. Miller, 56, Akron. County highway plow truck involved in an accident.
