Five Injured After Two-Vehicle Accident In Etna Green

ETNA GREEN — Five people were taken to area hospitals after a two-vehicle accident in Etna Green on Sunday, Jan. 30.
At 3:26 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle accident on West US 30, east of North SR 19, Etna Green.
Jack D. Smith, 41, Twelve Mile, was traveling south on SR 19 approaching US 30. Smith told officers a semi was in front of him, turning west on US 30 and he couldn’t see around it. Smith’s vehicle entered the intersection and hit a vehicle operated by Ociel C. Jaimes, 51, Warsaw.
A witness traveling east on US 30 said he had a green light and saw Smith’s vehicle traveling south on SR 19. The witness said he didn’t believe Smith’s vehicle was going to stop and he slowed his vehicle.
Smith and a passenger in his vehicle, Coltyn Smith, 10, Twelve Mile, were taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital for head pain and abdominal/pelvic pain.
Two other passengers in Smith’s vehicle, Ashley D. Smith, 38; and Qynley Smith, 6, both of Twelve Mile, were taken to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne for general body pain and abdominal/pelvic pain.
Jaimes was taken to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne for contusions and bruises to his entire body.
Damages are estimated at up to $100,000.
