Warsaw Man Arrested On Domestic Battery, Strangulation Charges

WARSAW — A Warsaw man was recently arrested after allegedly slapping a man and putting him in a choke hold.
Dylan Jay Hansen, 24, 1778 Peppergrass Court, Warsaw, is charged with domestic battery with a child under 16 present and strangulation, both level 6 felonies; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
On Jan. 4, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic incident. Upon arrival, the deputies spoke with a witness who said Hansen and a man were in a verbal argument when it became physical.
According to court documents, the physical confrontation was witnessed by two children at the scene. During the incident, Hansen allegedly slapped the man in the head. The man walked into a garage and attempted to get away when Hansen followed him and started a second physical confrontation. The children also attempted to follow them into the garage.
Hansen told the deputies the man pushed him and tried to tackle him, which resulted in him putting the man in a guillotine hold.
The man told deputies he had earphones in when Hansen slapped him on the head, attempting to knock the earphones out. Hansen followed the man into a garage and placed him in a choke hold. He hit the man on the back of the head before releasing his grip. The deputies noticed the man had redness and irritation around his left eye.
Hansen was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Jan. 4, with a $6,000 surety and cash bond.
