Syracuse Couple Arrested After Altercation
Staff Report
SYRACUSE — A Syracuse couple was recently arrested after allegedly having a physical altercation while intoxicated.
Kandice Ranae Ferguson, 19; and Dustin Michael Myers, 31, both of 201 E. Greenhaus Drive Apartment 55, Syracuse, are each charged with domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony; and public intoxication, a class B misdemeanor.
On Dec. 16, Syracuse Police officers responded to a domestic dispute outside of a residence. Upon arrival at the scene, officers met with Myers.
When officers began speaking with Myers, a woman, identified as Ferguson, began to walk toward the group and said Myers was her boyfriend. According to court documents, Myers yelled that he did not know Ferguson.
Officers noticed that Ferguson had a scrape on her forehead and a large scrape on her left knee; both injuries were bleeding. Ferguson was also showing physical signs of intoxication. She initially denied being in an altercation with Myers. After being confronted about her injuries, Ferguson said she pushed Myers once and that Myers pushed her once.
Myers, who was also showing signs of intoxication, said the altercation was only verbal and that it never became physical despite a cut on the left side of his nose and a scrape on his right elbow that were both bleeding.
A witness at the scene said he was asleep when he heard a man and woman yelling obscenities at each other. He told officers he heard the man scream for help.
A second witness said he went outside when he saw two people fighting. He went back inside and called 911.
Ferguson was previously convicted of two counts of methamphetamine possession in Kosciusko County in February.
Myers has two pending charges for methamphetamine possession in Kosciusko County.
Both Myers and Ferguson were booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Dec. 16, each with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
