Roy L. Smith, 77, of rural Larwill, died peacefully at his home at 6:55 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021.

Born on May 12, 1944, in Columbia City, he was the son of the late Claude and June (Lovely) Smith.

On Sept. 21, 1963, he married Kay L. Lahm.

Surviving is his beloved wife of 58 years, Kay; children, Dawn L. (Michael) Shaw of Pittsboro, Eric C. (Nicole) Smith of Larwill, and Lance J. (Sheila) Smith of Columbia City; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister Peggy Sturgill of Mooresville, and his special dog, Sophie.
