Syracuse Man Involved In Police Chase Faces Drug Charges

CROMWELL — A Syracuse man who led multiple law enforcement agencies in a pursuit on Friday is facing additional charges after officers found drugs in his vehicle.
Brad Lee Niles Jr., 35, 1010 N. Huntington St., Syracuse, is officially charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level 4 felony; being a felon while carrying a handgun with a prior conviction, a level 5 felony; possession of a controlled substance, residential entry, resisting law enforcement, and possession of marijuana with a prior, all level 6 felonies; and criminal recklessness, a class B misdemeanor.
Indiana State Police issued a press release on Friday, Dec. 10, regarding Niles leading multiple law enforcement agencies in a vehicle pursuit after kicking in a residence’s front door. Two teenagers were home alone at the time of the residential entry and alerted authorities.
According to court documents, prior to Niles’ vehicle being impounded, officers found a handgun, drug paraphernalia, and a small bag containing two small, rock-like substances.
Once in custody, Niles told officers he had smoked methamphetamine earlier that morning.
In Niles’ vehicle, officers found 327 grams of marijuana; 8.6 grams of methamphetamine; 4.6 grams of Ritalin, a controlled substance; six tabs of LSD; and two pills of buprenorphine, a narcotic drug.
Niles was previously convicted of methamphetamine possession in April 2013 in Kosciusko County.
Niles has a pretrial conference regarding this case on Feb. 28, 2022, in Noble County.
