Windy Conditions Force Leesburg To Change Candelaria Plans
News Release
LEESBURG — Strong winds have led organizers of the Leesburg Candelaria to change some plans.
According to information from event organizer Christina Archer, the Christmas party scheduled for Saturday night will still occur from 6-8 p.m., at the old firehouse near the town hall.
But with forecasted winds expected to reach near 50 mph, those planning the event decided to move the town’s luminarias – involving hundreds of outdoor candles – to Saturday, Dec. 18.
The National Weather Service has a wind advisory across northern Indiana until 5 p.m. tonight, but windy conditions could continue into the night.
Santa will still arrive at 6 p.m. for visits with the kids and there will be hot chocolate, cookies and live music.
