Mitchell ‘Mickey’ A. Blankenship
Mitchell “Mickey” A. Blankenship, 74, Warsaw, passed away peacefully in his residence surrounded by his family on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021.
Born March 24, 1947, in Blackey, Va., he was the son of Alberta Blankenship. Mickey married the love of his life Donna Camden on Oct. 27, 1967, and together raised their two children. He worked as a body and fender repairman at C & M Body Shop for over 30 years up until his retirement.
Having a passion for music since the age of 5, Mickey was a member and eventual leader of the Southern Rain Band. He could pick up any instrument with a string on it and play beautifully. He learned to play guitar by sound not from reading music. He loved to listen to oldies, bluegrass, and country music. Mickey had many hobbies such as woodworking and watching old westerns. He also enjoyed and owned motorcycles and snowmobiles.
Those who survive to cherish memories of him are his wife of 54 years, Donna; children, Robin (Curtis Harris) Blankenship of Silver Lake; and Mitchell (Liz) Blankenship Jr. of Middlebury; grandchildren, Kyndra, Mitchell III, Brooke, and Steven; brother, Patrick (Bonnie) Campbell of Vinton, Va.; and sister, Mary (Keith) Ogden of Amherst, Va.
He is preceded in death by his mother; brother, Randall Campbell; and great grandson, Theo Blankenship.
Titus Funeral Home is assisting the family. Friends and family may gather for visitation from 3-6 p.m. Friday Dec. 10, at Bethel Baptist Church, 1109 W Market St, Pierceton, IN 46562. A Life Celebration® will follow at 6 p.m.
