Darius Marquise Bush
WARSAW — A Warsaw man was arrested after battering a woman.
Darius Marquise Bush, 27, 123 Sophie Lane, Warsaw, is charged with battery resulting in moderate bodily injury and strangulation, both level 6 felonies.
On Nov. 16, Warsaw Police officers responded to a domestic violence incident. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a woman who said nothing physical had occurred between her and Bush.
According to court documents, the woman told officers there had only been a verbal argument. She said she and Bush would stay apart for the night and talk in the morning.
A couple hours later, the person who reported the incident contacted dispatch again and said they could hear the woman screaming for someone to get off of her.
Officers went back to the scene and talked with the woman, who said Bush became angry and flipped a table over. He allegedly grabbed the woman into a bear hug and put his arm around her neck, applying pressure to a point where she couldn’t breathe.
As the woman was attempting to leave the residence, Bush put his hands around her neck and pinned her against a wall.
Officers noticed a broken glass coffee table and a chair laying on its side in the residence. They also noticed the woman had scratch marks on her face and redness around her neck.
Bush has already been arrested and released on his own recognizance. He has an initial hearing at 11 a.m. Dec. 13.
