Fundraiser Organized For Former North Webster Police Officer
Staff Report
WARSAW — A fundraiser has been organized in support of former North Webster Police Officer Erick Sawyer, who is currently hospitalized with pneumonia.
According to information on the GoFundMe page, organized by Sawyer’s sister, Jessica Lackey, Sawyer is fighting for his life after being diagnosed with COVID a few weeks ago and admitted to the hospital Nov. 5 with pneumonia and fluid in his lungs.
Lackey said since that time, Sawyer’s condition has only worsened.
The most recent update on the GoFundMe page states that Sawyer was flown to Birmingham, Ala. overnight after being accepted for transfer to UAB Hospital.
Sawyer’s wife, Brandy, was a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office dispatcher prior to the family moving south.
According to information provided by Lackey via the GoFundMe page, Brandy will be staying in a hotel near the UAB Hospital and the family could use assistance with funds to cover hotel costs, gas, food, medical bills that are not covered by insurance and boarding their dogs.
The family would be grateful for prayers for Sawyer’s healing and for any donations.
