Nappanee Man Arrested On Three Residential Entry Cases
Staff Report
WARSAW — A Nappanee man was recently arrested after entering a woman’s home without permission on three separate occasions in a three-week timespan.
In the first case, Gage Allen Waddle, 22, 431 Heather Blvd., Nappanee, is charged with residential entry, a level 6 felony; and criminal mischief, a class B misdemeanor. He is charged with burglary, a level 4 felony; residential entry, a level 6 felony; and criminal mischief, a class B misdemeanor, in a second case. Waddle also faces an additional Level 6 felony residential entry charge in a third case.
On July 27, a Warsaw Police officer responded to a domestic altercation at a residence.
While at the home, the officer noticed furniture and other items were thrown about and turned over. The officer also noticed a broken window with glass laying on the floor. According to court documents, a woman said she was sitting at a desk in the residence’s living room when Waddle entered the home without permission. Waddle allegedly became angry and started throwing items.
The woman said Waddle then approached her as if he was going to hit her. She told officers she grabbed a baseball bat and attempted to push him out of the residence. When Waddle attempted to punch her, the woman hit him with the bat. Waddle left the area but later returned and tried to enter the home. He went to the residence’s window and punched it, causing it to shatter.
A witness at the scene said they saw Waddle and the woman yell at each other. They also saw Waddle punch the window.
The woman told officers she was experiencing leg pain but was unsure if the injuries were from Waddle. Officers noticed bruising in multiple locations on her leg.
Waddle told officers that the woman chased him out of the home and that he attempted to go through the window back into the residence to get away from the woman.
At 3 a.m. July 28, Warsaw Police officers were dispatched to the residence regarding another residential entry report. A woman at the scene said while she was out of the home, someone had pushed in her air conditioning unit to make entry. The woman also found muddy footprints inside her home.
A neighbor said they saw Waddle enter the home. After the July 27 incident, the neighbor said they were asked to watch the home due to concerns that Waddle may return. At around 11:30 p.m. that night, the neighbor heard a noise and found Waddle in the woman’s home. Waddle was allegedly holding an item in his hands.
The neighbor told Waddle he needed to leave and escorted him out of the home.
On Aug. 11, a Warsaw Police officer was contacted by the woman who was in an argument with Waddle on July 27. The woman reported that Waddle had again showed up at her home without permission.
Waddle allegedly walked into the home and asked to speak with the woman. One of the woman’s relatives was outside of the home and got Waddle to leave without incident.
Video footage showed Waddle entering the home without permission.
Officers later located Waddle, where he was taken into custody due to having an active arrest warrant.
Waddle was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Nov. 5, with a $25,750 surety and cash bond.
