Leaf Pickup Starts Monday; Paper bags Required For Grass Clippings
News Release
WARSAW — Warsaw’s fall leaf pickup starts Monday, Nov. 1.
Large piles of leaves raked to the curb or alley by 7 a.m. will be picked up on residents’ regular trash day.
The city asks that people not put sticks or other trash in the leaf piles. Small piles will need to be bagged or boxed.
The city reminds residents that leaves cannot be raked into the streets and gutter lines. This clogs the storm water catch basins and creates drainage issues that can lead to flooding.
Paper rather than plastic bags
Also, the city wishes to remind residents that any bagged lawn waste, including leaves, must be in a paper bag now.
The city says they’ve seen an increase in the use of plastic bags this week as leaves begin to fall.
The change in prohibiting plastic bags was made this summer.
