WARSAW — Mike Long plans to seek another term on the Kosciusko County Council.
Long, who represents District 2, told InkFreeNews on Wednesday, Oct. 27, he plans to run for a second term in 2022.
The Republican councilman said he has communicated recently with Kosciusko County GOP Chairman Mike Ragan about his plans. He also sent an email to Kosciusko County Council Vice President Sue Ann Mitchell.
District 2 includes much of northwest Kosciusko County (see map below).
The filing period for the May 3 primary begins in January.
Long, a lifelong farmer, said he wants to continue to “be the voice of agriculture” for the council as no other members represent that profession.
As for issues he would like to focus on if reelected, he said one would be “need(ing) to address (the county’s) revenue stream.”
“(The) current revenue stream is not supporting our budget long-term,” he said, adding, “trends are in the wrong direction.”
“I don’t believe raising taxes is the answer at this point,” said Long regarding how to address the budget shortfall, but he added that he wouldn’t totally rule that out as a possibility.
Next year’s general election is on Nov. 8.
