North Webster Community Public Library Holds A Puzzle Exchange
News Release
NORTH WEBSTER—While most recognize the importance of exercising the body to keep it fit and healthy, the brain needs exercise also to keep it functioning well. Puzzles are not only fun and entertaining, but the puzzles exercise the brain as well. Studies have shown that doing jigsaw puzzles can improve cognition and visual spatial skills.
North Webster Community Public Library makes available a large selection of puzzles through its Puzzle Exchange. Patrons can bring in a puzzle once finished with it and trade it for a different one. The puzzles do not have to be checked out at the circulation desk and no library card is needed. Simply help yourself. Patrons are also invited to stop by the library’s puzzle table and work on a puzzle in progress. Of course, reading is also a great brain exercise, so check out a book too.
Exercise those writing skills at Writer’s Corner 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 25. Meeting the fourth Monday each month, Writer’s Corner is a group of people who enjoy writing and exchanging ideas, techniques and encouragement. Each month the group is assigned to write a composition on a specific subject and then share what each has written. For the October meeting, the assignment is to write a family history story. It doesn’t matter whether the patron is a published author or novice, Writer’s Corner is for patrons who like to write or want to learn how.
If the silver screen is preferred, bring the family for Family Movie Night 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28. The Youth Department is showing a 2017 live action animated comedy about a lovable bear who enjoys spreading joy and marmalade as he tries to unmask a thief. The movie is rated PG and runs 105 minutes. Free snacks will be available, just bring a drink.
While at the library, pick up a take-home Frankenstein craft for the kids to complete at home. When finished, snap a picture with the completed craft and post is on the library’s Facebook page or email to Mrs. Pam at [email protected] and the child will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a prize.
