Farm Tractor Driver Injured In Wednesday Morning Collision

WARSAW — A Warsaw man was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital for back pain after a two-vehicle accident involving a tractor.
The accident occurred shortly before 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, in the 4900 block of West CR 200N, Warsaw.
Preliminary results of the investigation indicate that a 2021 GMC Sierra, driven by Travis Heckaman, 35, Plymouth, was behind a farm tractor driven by James Earl, 83, Warsaw, prior to the collision.
The accident occurred when Earl was reportedly turning onto his driveway from the shoulder of the roadway. The front right corner of Heckaman’s pickup hit the rear left wheel of Earl’s tractor as it was beginning to turn.
Earl was ejected from his tractor as it slid from the roadway into his yard.
Earl was taken by ambulance to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne with a complaint of back pain. Heckaman was not injured.
The incident causation remains under investigation.
Responding agencies include the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, Lutheran EMS and Atwood Fire Department.
