INDIANAPOLIS – Golf is a game of inches, and can make or break careers based off the precision.
For NorthWood’s Cybil Stillson, her senior season will afford plenty of accolades, but a matter of inches cost her one as the All-State awards were handed out this past weekend.
Stillson was named to the 2021 IHSGCA All-State Team based off her performance throughout the season. Stillson, the No. 1 for NorthWood’s state team, was a conference, sectional and regional medalist this season, her medalist 62 at the East Noble Regional set an IHSAA all-time record for lowest round at any level of girls golf in the state’s history. She would finish tied for 11th and the IHSAA State Finals, which was key, as the ICGSA bases their All-State off finals finish, to which Stillson missed out by one stroke.
For the IHSGCA, however, Stillson joined northern Indiana golfers Delaney Wade of Penn and the Homestead duo of Morgan Dabagia and Simone Senk on the list of 21 golfers. Noted in the award for Stillson and Dabagia were the fourth straight awards for the two, the only two from the class of 2022 to win All-State all four years of their careers.
Dabagia, Senk and Wade all were named to the ICGSA All-State Team for placing inside the top 10 at the IHSAA State Finals last weekend.
The IHSGCA held its awards banquet this past Friday in Indianapolis where its awards were handed out.
