WARSAW — A woman was extricated from her vehicle following a three-vehicle wreck in Warsaw.
It occurred at 3:32 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, at North Detroit Street (SR 15) and Lyon Street.
Hanna J. Thompson, 22, Warsaw, had to be removed from her 2008 Chevrolet Impala by emergency responders. She was taken to the hospital by Lutheran EMS, complaining of pain in her hip/upper leg.
According to a Warsaw Police Department accident report, Christopher M. Gaby, 48, Winona Lake, was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado northbound on North Detroit Street near the intersection with Lyon Street.
He was in the left hand lane when an unknown vehicle in the right lane slowed down to turn right onto Lyon Street. He said Thompson then pulled out in front of him to turn to the south on North Detroit Street.
Gaby tried to stop but was unable to. His Colorado hit Thompson’s Impala.
That impact pushed the Impala into a 2002 Dodge Durango driven by Steven A. Born, 42, Columbia City.
Before that, Born had been traveling southbound on North Detroit Street near the Lyon Street intersection. He was in the left hand lane and stopped to turn east on Lyon Street.
Gaby complained of rib pain and was checked out on scene by medics.
Due to the extent of Thompson’s injuries, officers were unable to speak with her on scene or provide her with citations for driving while suspended and driving without insurance. Courts will contact her with that information.
