WARSAW — A Warsaw man was recently arrested after allegedly hitting a woman in the face and kicking her in the ribs.
Robert Trejo Garcia, 45, 2441 W. 250S, Warsaw, is charged with domestic battery resulting in serious bodily injury, a level 5 felony; and strangulation, a level 6 felony.
On Aug. 11, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy went to a local hospital to speak with an individual about a domestic incident. Upon arrival, the officer met with a woman who said she had been in a physical altercation with Garcia.
According to court documents, the woman said Garcia became upset and grabbed her neck. She said this restricted her breathing to the point that she lost consciousness.
When the woman regained consciousness, she said Garcia was hitting her in the face. In the first few strikes, Garcia used an open hand but then began hitting her face with a closed fist.
During the altercation, the woman said she heard Garcia say that he wished she were dead. Garcia allegedly shoved money down her mouth, kicked her in the ribs, dragged her through a mud pile and slammed her head into the ground repeatedly while he held her neck.
The altercation ended when an individual arrived at the scene. The woman said the altercation lasted about 30 minutes. When it ended, the woman drove to an individual’s house and was taken to a local hospital.
Garcia was previously convicted of domestic battery in Kosciusko County in 2015.
For this case, Garcia was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Oct. 7.
