Grace Men 3, Tiffin 3
The Grace men’s tennis team took on the NCAA Division II Dragons of Tiffin University and the weather turned out to be the only winner on the day. The two squads were deadlocked at 3-3 after singles matches before rain forced the cancellation of the doubles competition.
“I was feeling pretty confident with the match coming down to doubles,” said Coach Andy Lewis. “We’re disappointed that we weren’t able to finish. It could have been a good win for us.”
Tiffin captured the top three singles matches, but the Lancers pulled out the remaining trio of contests to force the tie. Grace got a 3-6, 6-1, 10-8 win from Fabricio Galvan at the No. 4 position and a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 5 from Nicolas Doria. Francisco Margaria then pulled out a 6-4, 4-6, 10-3 victory at No. 6 singles.
None of the doubles matches were able to get started because of the weather.
Grace is scheduled to face another NCAA Division II team on October 15 as the Lancers travel to Michigan to face Grand Valley State.
