Seven Departments Respond To Nappanee Church Fire
Staff Report
NAPPANEE — A Nappanee church was damaged by a fire Sunday morning, Sept. 26.
Nappanee Fire Chief Don Lehman said the fire at First Church of God, 72036 CR 7, was called out about 9:50 a.m. Sunday. The Nappanee Fire Department was assisted by six other departments in battling the blaze.
It took around an hour to get it under control, he said. The sanctuary and other parts of the church are still standing, he said, but there is “extensive” water damage.
“It’s not suspicious,” he said of the cause of the fire, but the state fire marshal’s office is investigating it.
