Tippecanoe Valley 180, Rochester 194
It may not have been the Bell Game, but Valley and Rochester met up on the golf course at Round Barn to settle their girls golf differences.
Valley’s 17th dual win of the season ties a program record. In the victory, Madelyn Weaver shot a 41 to lead the way, followed by 45s from Kaydence Mellott and Molly Moriarty. Lily Ault tossed in a 49, and Cheney Canada played her final dual match for the squad and posted a 51.
Ava Thomas matched Weaver with a 41 and Payton Moore was right behind at 43. Delaney Barkman had a 51, Avery Brouyette a 59 and Reagan Becker a 60 for the Zebras.
Both teams will head to Stonehenge Saturday for the Warsaw Girls Golf Sectional.
Stillson Competes In High Profile USGA Event
NorthWood senior Cybil Stillson stepped outside traditional high school golf on Thursday to compete at the USGA Four-Ball event at Hillcrest Golf Club in Indianapolis.
Stillson joined Franklin High School’s Ava Magdalena to shoot a four-under 67 to finish third in the high profile event showcasing some of the top amateur female golfers in the midwest. Wisconsin’s Kimberly Dinh and James Madison’s Ashley Mantha shot a combined seven-under to lead the way, followed by a New Albany, Ohio, pair of Kary Hollenbaugh and Anna Ritter, which combined a five-under.
Stillson contributed six birdies in the round, which has the two players each play the hole, the better of the two scores is kept for 18 holes.
