NORTH WEBSTER — North Webster Tippecanoe Township Chamber of Commerce has decided to move the monthly meetings from the second Monday of the month at noon to the third Monday of the month at 5:30 p.m., making the next general meeting 5:30 p.m. Oct. 18.
The chamber decided to move the meeting date and time to make the meetings more accessible to business that are shorthanded or that simply can’t breakaway from their business in the middle of the day.
President Mindy Scaggs of RE/MAX Lakes said, “We changed the meeting time to try to accommodate more of our members and to entice more of our members to come we are changing it to that new day.
Scaggs is not the only one that is hopeful more members will be able to come out to future meetings with the change.
“I’m always open to change. So, lets give it a whirl and see what happens and we can always change it back if the evening time doesn’t bring more members to the meeting like we are hoping for,” Karen White of Caliber Designs said.
In addition to the new meeting time, the chamber also announced that effective immediately Karen White will be taking over for Tammy Waliczek as Secretary. Scaggs shared that Waliczek had a lot going on, but that White was able to step up and handle the position.
“She (Waliczek) has a lot on her plate right now,” Scaggs said. “She (White) was nominated and voted to replace Tammy. She is diligent in her work.”
White shared that following some thought she decided to take on the position.
“I gave it some thought and organizational wise and compliment level, I thought I could do it,” White said.
She stated that she believes she will be able to help the chambers stay organized and add her own touch to the board as well.
“I hope that it will help the chamber stay organized,” White said.“Putting my Karen touch on it.”
Lastly, the board discussed the three positions that are expiring at the end of 2021.
“These three positions expire at the end of this year. So, what we are doing is collecting nominations and it doesn’t have to be on the board. It can be any members that get nominated. We will be sending out an email with the ballet of nominations to backfill three positions on the board of directors,” Scaggs said.
The nomination ballets will be going out to members prior to the October meeting.
