NorthWood moved to 9-0 in dual matches this season with an easy one at Cedar Lake Golf Course Wednesday evening.
Playing for assistant coach Payton Grubbs, stepping in for head coach Adam Yoder who was out for personal reasons, the Panthers had Cybil Stillson shoot a two-under 34 to lead the way. Riley Kitson posted a 42, Bree Goss a 44, Bella Sechrist a 56 and Kira Schrock a 58.
“Thank you so much to coach Grubbs and our girls for their understanding with our family today and Maddie’s procedure,” Yoder said, referring to his daughter’s outpatient surgery on Wednesday. “Their solid performance once again proves their strong character!”
NorthWood enters Saturday’s Northern Lakes Conference Championships at Bent Oak as the favorite after a 7-0 run through the NLC round robin.
Culver Academy 153, Wawasee 203
The Academy, ranked No. 12 in the latest IHSGCA poll, played like it with a masterful performance at Maxwelton.
Elle Teglia led the Eagles with a 35, followed by Lynne Zhana at 37 and Bibian Kim with a 39. Kari Teglia and Sophia Markle each finished at 42.
Taylor Cripe led Wawasee with a 41, but scores then dropped into the 50s for the Warriors with Firestone at 50, Delaney Delagrange at 55 and Ayla Torres at 57. Izy Losee had the fifth score at 61.
