NorthWood 15th At HOF Invite
NorthWood took another swing against some of the top girls golf teams in the state Saturday at the Hall of Fame Classic at the Golf Club at Eagle Pointe.
The Panthers carded a team score of 369, landing firmly in 15th place among 18 teams to place. Penn was tied for 11th overall as the only other area team competing. Evansville North, equipped with two of the top three golfers at the tournament, shot a numbing 283 to place one under as a team. Carmel and Westfield tied for second at 305.
Cybil Stillson led NorthWood with a 76, tying for 13th overall. Stillson was one-under on the front nine, but was four over on the first four holes of the back nine to hurt her cause.
Riley Kitson had a 93, Bre Goss a 94, Belle Sechrist a 106 and Kira Schrock a 108 for the Panthers.
Chloe Johnson of Evansville North, who finished third at the IHSAA Finals last fall, won the medalist honor with a four-under 67. Michaela Headlee of Carmel, the state’s runner-up a year ago, was three under for runner-up on Saturday and Chloe’s sister, Faith Johnson, was two-under for third overall.
