NAPPANEE – NorthWood’s Cybil Stillson has been outgunning opponents all season. In September, she will team up with someone else in a unique showcase.
Stillson will take part in the USGA Women’s Four Ball Qualifier event on Thursday, Sept. 16, at Hillcrest Country Club in Indianapolis. Stillson will be paired with Ava Ray of Franklin Community High School opposite Kimberly Dinh and Ashley Mantha for an 18-hole, four-ball stroke play competition.
Play will have players compete on 36 holes, the better of the two scores per team will be kept, comprising the team’s score along the 36 holes.
The opportunity is a unique one, and another chance for Stillson to compete among the best.
“Both are excellent players and will be a formidable foe in this format!” said NorthWood girls golf head coach Adam Yoder. “Cybil continues to strive to play in events that challenge her skills, build relationships with golfers around the world, and give herself outstanding experiences on and off the golf course. We are very excited for both Cybil and Ava to compete!”
Stillson has played her usual elite golf the season. In seven full tournaments through the weekend, Stillson has finished top three in five of them, including medalist honors at both the NorthWood and New Prairie invites. In posting runner-up honors over the weekend, Stillson shot a three-under 68 at the Warsaw Invite at Stonehenge, the site of the sectional tournament.
In her only nine-hole round of the season, she carded a 33 at McCormick Creek, which featured a program-record four birdies.
Stillson and Ray will tee off at 10:20 a.m. against Dinh and Mantha at Hillcrest.
