Extension Homemakers Have Achievement Night

ATWOOD — Kosciusko County Extension Homemakers had their Achievement Night at the Atwood Community Building on Wednesday, Aug. 18.
Awards were given out to both clubs and individuals.
County President Sue Martin gave out club awards.
Those honored as Gold Clubs included Knitting Together, Kosciusko County Extension Chorus, Merry Tones and M&M’s. Silver Clubs included Atwood Home Study, Better Homes, Chit Chat, Clunette Crossroads, Happy Homemakers, Rural Neighbors and Tippecanoe Township. Bronze Clubs were Club 55, Herscher and Jolly Dozen.
Those honored for 50 years of club membership included Sue Harman, Pat Friddle and the late Linda Cochran. Julia Frush received the Lifetime Achievement Award for her many years of volunteer service to the Extension Homemaker program and serving in various leadership roles.
Kosciusko County Fair Home and Family Arts Building Superintendents Frush, June Thomas and Pat Rathbun gave out county fair awards.
Receiving awards for the highest number of entries per individual club membership were Knitting Together, first; M&M’s, second; Atwood Home Study, third; and Merry Tones, honorable mention. Clubs with the most entries were Atwood Home Study, first, 90 entries; Knitting Together, second, 51 entries; Merry Tones, third, 46 entries; M&M’s, honorable mention, 45 entries; and Kosciusko County Extension Chorus, honorable mention, 34 entries.
Individual club members with the most fair entries included: Lee Ann Jaeger, first; Janet Godschalk, second; Darlene Lash, third; and Linda Egolf, honorable mention.
Prior to the awards, Merry Tones President Carol Huffer presented a program on the “History of Food Preservation.” The theme of the evening was “Sunshine and Plenty” and Merry Tones served as the host club.
The 2021-22 Extension Homemaker program year has begun, and membership is open to anyone. It consists of 15 clubs located throughout the county with a focus on family and community service.
