U.S. 31 Lane Closures Underway South Of Argos
News Release
PLYMOUTH – There will be lane closures on U.S. 31 near Argos for the next two months, the Indiana Department of Transportation announced.
The restrictions between 19th Road and 20B Road are needed for a pipe replacement project.
The work began Monday, June 28.
The inside left lanes will be closed for the installation of a north and south crossover during phase one, which should last about two weeks before switching to phase two. Motorists should be prepared for changing traffic patterns in the area. One lane will remain open in each direction at all times, with one side of U.S. 31 being closed to traffic and the other side converted to two-way traffic utilizing the crossovers.
Starting July 2, the Kenilworth Road intersection will be closed for the rest of the project. The detour for Kenilworth Road on the west side of U.S. 31 will be Kenilworth Road south to 20B Road and 20B Rd east to U.S. 31. The detour for Kenilworth Road on the east side of U.S. 31 will be Kenilworth Road north to 19th Road and 19th Road west to U.S. 31.
This project will be ongoing through mid-August.
INDOT urges drivers to stay alert near crews and follow traffic directions carefully. Motorists are encouraged to allow extra time when driving through this area and should slow down and drive distraction-free through all work zones.
