News Release
SYRACUSE — Here is what is happening at the Syracuse Public Library the week of June 28-July 3:
Anytime Locker Pickup
Anytime locker pickup is a new service offered by the Syracuse Public Library, giving patrons greater flexibility when picking up their library materials. Call or message the library with a list of items for anytime pickup. Staff will then add those items to a locker as soon as possible. When the materials are ready, a patron can pick them up at their convenience — even at midnight. A patron’s combination to access their locker will be their library card’s last four digits. After claiming items, patrons will deposit the lock in the library’s media drop box.
These lockers were made possible by the Friends of the Syracuse Public Library, which donated funds for their purchase.
The Friends are currently holding a paddle silent auction. Featuring 11 paddles painted by local artists, this auction will continue through Thursday, Aug. 12; the paddles will be displayed at the library in August, allowing final bids to be placed. All proceeds from the silent auction will benefit the Friends’ support of the Syracuse Public Library’s numerous services and programs.
The next Friends’ meeting is at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 8; knock on the Harrison Street door to enter.
Crafts, Stories, Oh My
Children will be getting into the Fourth of July spirit with an edible patriotic craft at 2 p.m. Monday, June 28. There will only be one story time during the week of June 28 at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, at the library. Storytime in the Park will return at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 15, in Lakeside Park. Fabulous Fridays continue with a special performance from Pretty Funny Balloons, so stop by the children’s department at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 2.
Teens will be able to play Dungeons and Dragons from 2-5:30 p.m. Monday, June 28. At 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, visit the library to create a decorative fantasy map with numerous choices that span popular fantasy series. While this craft is a part of the teen summer reading program, all ages are welcome as supplies allow. The monthly teen gaming program will then be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, July 1.
Don’t forget to sign up for the all-ages “Star Wars” inspired escape room, occurring from 2-6 p.m. Thursday, July 8. Visit the library’s website — www.syracuse.lib.in.us — for online registration. There are five slots available, each accommodating eight to 10 people.
Library Closed
Syracuse Public Library will be closed Monday, July 5, in observation of Independence Day.
