NORTH WEBSTER — The 2021 Mermaid Festival Queen of Lakes contest will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 26, in the North Webster Community Center. There are 15 girls vying for the title Saturday evening.
The contestants are:
Madelyn Zimmerman, Milford, daughter of John and Peg Zimmerman, is Miss Waubee Lake. She is sponsored by the North Webster American Legion Auxiliary.
Kirstin Knox, Ligonier, daughter of Kris and Daphne Knox, is Miss Papakeechie Lake. She is sponsored by ERS Wireless, Ligonier.
Mikilah Wiggs, Syracuse, daughter of Curtis and Angie Grady and Dustin Wiggs, is Miss Little Barbee Lake. She is sponsored by Kiza Designs.
Windsor Bonner, Leesburg, daughter of Pete and Kristin Bonner, is Miss Loon Lake. She is sponsored by Dan’s Pies.
Sophia Rush, Leesburg, daughter of Zac and Kristina Rush, is Miss Pike Lake. She is sponsored by Jill and Jennifers.

The pageant is sponsored by the North Webster Lady Lions and Lions Club and Shoop Sports and Youth Foundation Inc. It is open to any unmarried young lady who is between the ages of 15 and 24.
Each contestant will base her float for the parade and her theme wear selection on this year’s theme of “Through the Years — Celebrating the Mermaid Festival.” Contestants are judged in three areas: personal interview, theme wear and evening gown. Both the theme wear and evening gown judging will be based on poise and self-confidence, stance and hand position, carriage and appearance. The personal interview will be based on attitude, ability to converse friendliness, poise and self-confidence.
The $5,000 scholarship money, provided by Shoop Sports and Youth Foundation Inc., will be divided between the contestant selected as queen as well as the three runners-up. The foundation will also present additional scholarship money, ranging between $250 and 750 and will be won by those placing first, second and third in the queen’s conveyance parade contest. North Webster Lady Lions Club will present a cash prize of $100 to the recipient of the community service award winner.
There is a $5 admission fee to the pageant for adults and $2 for children.
