INDIANAPOLIS – Warsaw’s Cal Hoskins and NorthWood’s Ben Vincent were among those awarded with high honors today by the Indiana High School Golf Coaches Association (IHSGCA).
Hoskins was one of 20 golfers from around the state to be named All-State. Hoskins, a junior who was the Warsaw sectional medalist, was one of just five players from northern Indiana picked for the award. Hoskins was also an All-Northern Lakes Conference performer for the conference and sectional champion Tigers.
Joining Hoskins on the All-State list from northern Indiana were Kash Bellar of Peru, who yesterday won the IHSAA Boys Golf individual championship, along with Justin Hicks of Leo, Ray Filter of Crown Point and Aidan Gutierrez of Valpo.
Vincent was named Academic All-State from a list of just 15 individuals submitted by the IHSGCA. Vincent, a freshly graduated senior from NorthWood High School, was joined by three Fort Wayne area players as the only honorees north of US 24. Included from Allen County were Joseph Shaklik and Andrew Wojewuczki of Fort Wayne Canterbury, and Ben Jackson of Fort Wayne Carroll.
