Jimtown 3, Tippecanoe Valley 2

It was Heartbreak Hotel for Tippecanoe Valley Wednesday in the opening game of the Wawasee Baseball Sectional.

Valley led 2-0 heading into the seventh and their closer, DJ Estep, on the hill. Jimtown, however, mounted a rally and crossed the plate three times to take the lead and then close the door.

Estep had Valley’s big hit, a two-run double in the third for Valley’s only runs. In the seventh, Jimtown countered with RBI from Sam Garner and Nick Carithers after Cooper Frank tripled to get the rally going.

Garner then closed the door, holding Valley off the board in the seventh to finish off the complete game win.

Owen Kirchenstien was sharp in his start for Valley, pitching six innings of five-hit ball with seven strikeouts.

Valley concludes its season 12-12, Jimtown moves on to meet the winner of Lakeland-Wawasee on Saturday morning.
