ICGSA Announces Academic All-State For Spring Sports

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana High School Coaches of Girls Sports Association (ICGSA) produced its lists for the three spring girls sports – tennis, track and softball.
In order to be nominated for the awards, the female student athletes must carry at least a 3.5 GPA or equivalent, score at least a 1110 SAT or 24 ACT, and play in at least 50 percent of its team’s varsity contests. The ICGSA issued Academic All-State and Honorable Mention lists for each of the three sports.
Listed below are athletes from the area who were among the association’s selections.
Tennis
A total of 88 athletes (75/13) received Academic All-State for girls tennis.
NorthWood had Ashlyn Feller and Kate Stillson earn Academic All-State First Team, as did Goshen’s trio of Lucy Kramer, Joya Drenth and Kathryn Detweiler, Westview’s trio of Hallie Mast, Rochelle Miller and Nicole Miller, and LaVille’s Alaina Kertai.
Track and Field
A total of 98 athletes (79/19) received Academic All-State for track and field.
Goshen had Megan Gallagher, Sasha Ramos, Alexia Potter and Sophia Koshmider as First Team and Mallory Wood as Honorable Mention. Academic All-State also went to Bremen’s Kate Crist and Westview’s Deann Fry. Honorable Mention went to the Columbia City trio of Cheyenne Peconge, Abigael Chapman and Macey Hill.
Softball
A total of 334 athletes (246/88) received Academic All-State for softball.
NorthWood’s Lili Lomeli, Triton’s Jaelyn Bules and Wawasee’s Olivia Stuck were all named First Team and the Wawasee trio of Kiaundra Olson, Kathryn Flannery and Casey Drake were tabbed Honorable Mention.
First Team’s included Argos’ Madilyn Barcus; Bremen’s Paige Thompson; Caston’s Olivia Boldry and Rebekah Milburn; Churubusco’s Caitlin Krider; East Noble’s Carly Turner, Maliah Hampshire and Lauren Las; Fairfield’s Mackayla Stutsman; Goshen’s Klairece Sweet; South Bend Riley’s Rachel Phelan; Lakeland’s Keirstin Roose and Kendall Moore.
Also First Team included LaVille’s Allison Medors; Northfield’s Abigail Hunter and Addison Baker; Penn’s Madeline Calvin and Paige Fuelling; Peru’s Graycee Ansari and Haven Wolfe; Pioneer’s Mackenzie Walker and Hailey Gotshall; Westview’s Addie Bender, Kelsey Rich and Hailee Caldwell; Whitko’s Gus Garr and Erin Starkweather; and Winamac’s Aubrey Gearhart.
Honorable Mentions included Bremen’s Hanna DePoy; East Noble’s Avan Beiswanger; John Glenn’s Lauren Taylor; Penn’s Addy Kois; Pioneer’s Madison Blickenstaff; and South Bend Adams’ Olivia VanHeesbeke.
