Sex Offender Arrested For Failing To Update Address

WARSAW — A man was recently arrested after failing to provide an updated address for the state’s sex offender registry.
Richard Dean Hyde, 48, New Castle, is charged with failure to register as a sex offender, a level 6 felony; and failure to register as a sex offender with a prior conviction, a level 5 felony.
In 2007, Hyde was convicted of child molesting in Kosciusko County and was required to register as a sex offender for life.
According to court documents, Hyde last registered as a sex offender on Sept. 9, 2015. On Sept. 30, 2015, a compliance check was completed by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office. Hyde has not registered with KCSO since.
On Nov. 6, 2019, Hyde was arrested on two active Kosciusko County warrants by the Wabash County Sheriff’s Office. At the time, Hyde provided his address as a Wabash County location. However, Hyde had never reported the address change to KCSO.
That same day, Hyde was taken to the Kosciusko County Jail, where he provided his address as a Kosciusko County location.
In 2014, Hyde was convicted of failure to register as a sex offender in Kosciusko County.
For this case, Hyde was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on May 18, with a $10,250 surety and cash bond.
