Caucus Set To Fill County Council District 1 Seat

WARSAW — A caucus of Republican Precinct Committee members in Kosciusko County Council District 1 is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, June 7, in the Syracuse Town Hall, 310 N. Huntington St., Syracuse.
The caucus will be held to fill a vacancy after Kosciusko County Councilman Doug Heinisch resigned Tuesday, May 18. He represents District 1and held the seat for 11 years.
Heinisch said his resignation was due to his job requiring more travel time and the inability to attend a number of county council meetings.
Declarations of candidacy are available at the office of the Kosciusko County Clerk of the Circuit Court, 121 N. Lake St., Warsaw, and must be filed with the Kosciusko County Republican Chairman Mike Ragan no later than 72 hours prior to the start of the caucus. Eligible candidates must reside in Kosciusko County Council District 1, be a Republican in good standing and not have a felony in their past.
The county council district 1 seat covers all of Turkey Creek and TIppecanoe townships along with the eastern portion of Plain Township and the majority of Washington Township.
