May Claims Hurdles Title At Bremen

BREMEN – Triton’s Makenna May had herself a night at the Bremen Girls Track Sectional Tuesday night.
May was first in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.70 in her first-ever sectional championship, and nearly grabbed a second with a runner-up time of 51.80 in the 300 hurdles. May will advance to the regional in both events. She nearly made it a third appearance, hitting 8-0 in the pole vault to take fifth, with Trojan teammate Jaela Faulkner also making 8-0 for fourth.
Triton had a couple near misses in its quest to finish within the top three and automatic qualification for the regional. Jocelynn Faulkner was fourth in both the 800 (2:40.04) and the 1,600 (5:53.57). Addyson Viers was fourth in discus (103-11) and fifth in shot put (33-11.5) and sister Abbey Viers was one inch behind in shot put.
Tippecanoe Valley did not have any regional qualifiers off placements, its best showings came from Ava Smith in the 200, taking fifth at 28.71 and Chloe Shepherd throwing the disc 96-3 for fifth place. Sidney Wagner added a sixth in high jump with a 4-8 finish, losing regional qualification on jumps.
Culver Academy claimed the team championship, and did so with a sectional record, posting a 50.75 in the 4×100 relay, besting the old mark of 50.82 set in 2014.
