SYRACUSE — Vern Landis, town attorney for the Town of Syracuse, explained Mike Noe’s abrupt resignation during a brief phone call earlier today, Monday, May 17.
According to Landis, Noe resigned without cause. He submitted a letter of resignation that was one sentence. No reason was given by Noe.
However, because Noe did not give 90 days notice as laid out in his contract with the town, the Syracuse Town Council has to approve his resignation at tomorrow night’s town regular council meeting.
Landis explained the contract between the town and Noe stated either side would give 90 days notice of terminating the contract.
Asked why the town council did not issue a statement regarding Noe’s resignation, Landis noted he was out of town and no one on the council thought to issue a statement explaining what happened.
Landis noted the matter could have been handled better. He said he learned of Noe’s resignation while traveling out of state.
