Area Accident Reports
Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accident:
- 10:25 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, East CR 350N east of North CR 925E, North Webster. Driver: Easton M. Adkins, 19, West Tidewater Trail, Columbia City. Adkins appeared to have been traveling eastbound on CR 350N east of CR 925E, North Webster. While traveling eastbound, his vehicle approached a dead-end roadway with a dirt barrier. According to tire tracks, it appeared as if he noticed the dead-end roadway too late and swerved to miss the dirt barrier. His vehicle left the south side of CR 350 and struck multiple trees before coming to a rest. Adkins suffered extensive incapacitating injuries and was found unconscious by responding officers. He was tended to by responding medics and later transported by air ambulance for further treatment. Kosciusko County F.A.C.T. responded to the scene. While on scene, a witness, who identified herself as Makayla Radcliff, arrived and said she is Adkins’ girlfriend. She said prior to the crash, she left his residence to return to her home, located in Fort Wayne. While traveling, she became lost somewhere in Noble County and called Adkins for assistance. After using her mobile phone to share her location, Adkins left his residence to find her so he could provide directions. During this time, Radcliff said her sister Miranda Radcliff was involved in a telephone call with Adkins as they were both attempting to provide assistance due to her being lost. During this call, it was reported that Miranda Radcliff heard a loud “crashing” sound, and Adkins stopped responding to her. Friends then used Snapchat’s GPS function to locate Adkins and inform first responders as to where he was located. Damage: Up to $25,000.
Milford
Officers with the Milford Police Department investigated the following accident:
- 5:45 p.m. Saturday, May 15, Catherine Street, Milford. Drivers: Thomas L. Waikel, 55, Perry Drive, Milford, and Kevin C. Shell, 61, Turkey Creek Drive, Milford. Waikel was pulling out of an alley when his vehicle struck Shell’s vehicle. Damage: Up to $2,500.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
- 12:29 p.m. Monday, May 17, 702 N. Detroit St., Warsaw. Drivers: Samuel E. Hoffman, 69, West Old Road 30, Warsaw, and Leo C. Lange, 35, South State Street, Kendallville. Hoffman was backing from his parking space in the Low Bob’s parking lot. He saw a vehicle to his rear left and tried to miss that vehicle. His vehicle backed into Lange’s vehicle, which was located behind his vehicle to the rear right. Damage: Up to $5,000.
- 2:08 p.m. Sunday, May 16, Parker Street, Warsaw. Driver: Marcia A. Kroft, 85, North CR 500E, Syracuse. Kroft’s vehicle jumped the curb at Culvers, striking concrete patio tables. A teenager was sitting at one of the tables and was pinned between Kroft’s vehicle and debris from the broken table. The teen had marks on his leg and was examined by medics at the scene. Damage: Up to $25,000.
- 6:12 p.m. Friday, May 14, Winona Avenue, west of Morton Street, Warsaw. Driver: Toni N. Hopper, 66, Morton Street, Warsaw, and Matthew J. Fletcher, 27, Winona Avenue, Warsaw. Hopper’s vehicle rear-ended Fletcher’s vehicle. A passenger in Fletcher’s vehicle, Kayla Sheets, 26, Winona Avenue, Warsaw, complained of head pain and requested to be checked at the scene by medics. Damage: Up to $5,000.
- 4:26 p.m. Friday, May 14, Center Street, Warsaw. Drivers: James L. Brenneman, 67, Chestnut Street, Winona Lake, and Savanna C. Goss, 18, Ashford Court, Warsaw. Brenneman’s vehicle backed into Goss’ vehicle. Damage: Up to $2,500.
- 3:58 p.m. Friday, May 14, SR 15, Warsaw. Drivers: Ethan J. Schuh, 17, South CR 200W, Silver Lake, and Seth Kamp, 30, Saint Mary’s Drive, Warsaw. As Schuh was pulling out of the McDonald’s parking lot, his vehicle struck Kamp’s vehicle. Damage: Up to $10,000.
- 12:39 p.m. Friday, May 14, US 30, Warsaw. Drivers: Robert L. Carey, 67, Park Court, Pendleton, Mona M. Wilson, 55, Kandi Avenue, Portage, and Thomas Whiteman, 51, Windbourne Street, Columbus, Ohio. Carey’s vehicle rear-ended Wilson’s vehicle, resulting in Wilson’s vehicle rear-ending Whiteman’s vehicle. Damage: Up to $2,500.
- 9:10 a.m. Friday, May 14, Detroit Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Beverly J. Roe, 76, Washington Street, Warsaw, and Rosendo Salazar, 60, Quad Street, Bourbon. Roe’s vehicle rear-ended Salazar’s vehicle while in a drive-thru line. Damage: Up to $2,500.
