Wawasee Baseball 6, Warsaw 5
Wawasee scored the go-ahead run in the seventh to steal a win at Warsaw Wednesday evening.
Kam Salazar opened Wawasee’s half of the seventh with a leadoff double, then advanced to third on a dropped third strike. After a walk to Grant Brooks, Parker Young roped a single to left to bring in Salazar to put the Warriors up one.
Joey Springer would lead off Warsaw’s half with a single, but was doubled off first on a liner to Salazar, who threw to first to end the game.
Young also had an RBI double and drove in three overall for the Warriors (9-7). After seeing Warsaw score four runs in the first, Brooks settled in on the hill to pitch the complete game, allowing five hits and no earned runs.
Warsaw (5-10) had Springer and Sam Justice each collect two hits. Springer struck out eight in six innings, Light on the hook for the loss after pitching the seventh.
Wawasee won the JV game 11-10, Beau Baker, Cole Turner and Zach Griffith all registering three hits for the Warriors.
Concord Baseball 6, NorthWood 4
The Minutemen rallied to upset the NLC leading Panthers Wednesday evening.
NorthWood lead 3-0 at one point, only for Concord to turn the tables and create chaos once again in the conference.
Stats were not immediately provided.
NorthWood falls to 5-2 in the NLC, now a half game behind Northridge (6-2) atop the standings. Goshen is 5-3 and Wawasee is 4-3 after Wednesday’s games. NorthWood hosts Northridge Friday afternoon in a statement game in the NLC race.
NorthWood won the JV game 12-7.
Tippecanoe Valley Baseball 2, Peru 0
The Vikings earned a big road win against the Class 3-A No. 6 Tigers.
DJ Estep threw a two-hit complete game and also went 2-3 at the plate with two RBI. Hunter Craft, Owen Kirchenstien, and Payton Mills all had a hit in the contest for the Vikings, which improve to 8-6 on the season.
Warsaw Softball 14, Wawasee 2
Warsaw provided enough punch and got some help from Wawasee in a blowout win in Syracuse.
Avery Sleeth hit a grand slam in the seventh inning to put the Tigers up seven, and the visitors moved its lead to 12 before the Warriors were able to respond. Wawasee committed five defensive errors in the game coupled with seven Warsaw hits to create the gap on the scoreboard.
Natalya Holder and Kali Ousley each scored three runs for Warsaw (8-4) and Tori Tackett gave up just one hit and struck out seven in the circle as part of the win.
Jaci Worrell had Wawasee’s (2-16-1) lone hit and Haylee Allen struck out seven in pitching relief.
Concord Softball 7, NorthWood 1
Emily Bradshaw provided the big blow for the Minutemen in a win at Callander Sportplex.
Bradshaw belted a third-inning grand slam to help the Minutemen to the road win. Allie Moss and Lynnsey Delio each had two hits and a run driven in to aid the cause.
Bradshaw and Delio combined to allow just one NorthWood (5-9) hit and struck out 11. Morgan Jenkins kept her hit streak and runs streak both alive with NorthWood’s one hit and one run. Jenkins has a hit and run scored in all 14 of NorthWood’s contests this season.
Peru Softball 6, Tippecanoe Valley 4
Valley blew a late lead against Peru Wednesday on the road.
Valley led 1-0 after its half of the sixth, but saw Peru score all of its runs in the bottom of the frame. Karsynn Beattie drove in a pair and Emily Ream added an RBI in the inning. Beattie, Ream and Graycee Ansari all had two hits in the game for the Tigers.
Corinna Stiles had two hits and two runs scored and Madi Smith had two hits and an RBI for the Vikings (9-8).
Knox Softball 10, Triton 0
The Redskins rolled in a home win over the Trojans.
Emily Rotering pitched a one-hitter and struck out 14 to pace the Redskins.
Jaydin Williams had a double and two RBI and Jayla Williams added two hits and two RBI.
Erin Ogle had the lone hit for the Trojans (4-9).
